I have this cute stroller that my kids haven’t played with for years. I found it a few weeks ago and decided I could use it for the toddlers group I work with at my church.

However, it has a stain right on the part where the baby doll is supposed to go.

The stain is not appealing to look at, so I decided to make a little quilt covering to go in the bottom of the stroller to hide the stain and make the stroller seat nice and soft.

A few months ago, I had cut out some squares of fabric for a baby quilt that I never ended up making. So I had lot of pieces of cute fabric already cut out and ready to use. I didn’t worry about trimming them down, though they were longer than I needed. I just started sewing them together to form a piece long enough to cover the bottom of the stroller.

I used strips from the same unmade baby quilt for the back of the covering. I could have used solid pieces for both sides, but I wanted to use up these scraps.

After all the pieces were sewn together for both sides, I pressed the seams.

Now I needed a pattern for the bottom of the stroller. I pushed the bottom up and after stapling two pieces of paper together (the stroller length is 19 inches), I outlined the oval pattern.

I pinned the paper pattern to the back fabric and outlined it with regular pencil since the back of this quilt wouldn’t be seen. Then I sewed around the line to join the two fabrics and batting. I sewed with the right sides out because I wanted the option of snipping the edges of the fabric to be the border.

After sewing around the outside, I also sewed down the middle and on all the seams to make sure the batting was secure. I added two extra seams at the edges to sew the batting in place.

Then I cut around the outside about ¼ inch away from the outside seam. I love the look of the edge of fabric.

When I put it in the stroller it was a perfect fit! I tacked it down to the stroller to hold it in place. It looks so cute, and I think the little kids at church will love it too.
