Dear Anna,
I don’t know how to knit or crochet, but I know your knitting has helped many of your grandchildren find true love. Can you give me some suggestions on what to knit if I want to attract a boy?
Signed: Willing to Knit from Dalton

Dear Willing,
I’m wonderful happy to hear that you want to learn how to knit. You will be amazed at how many boys will flock to your door if they think you can make a scarf. Over the years I have found potholders, scarves, and mittens to be wonderful helps in matchmaking. My scarves have even saved people’s lives. My grandson Gideon used one of my scarves to help keep him and Dottie Schrock warm during a blizzard, and Emma Nelson pulled my grandson Ben out of a well with a scarf I knitted with my own two hands. But saving lives is just a side benefit of knitting.

Start with a basic potholder design, but once you’ve mastered the technique, the sky is the limit. Scarves and mittens are a must, but if you really want to impress the boys, I suggest making a sweater. I make sweaters for me and my dear Felty, but I have also made sweaters for my dog Sparky, Zach Reynold’s turtle, and my chickens.

For sure and certain, boys will look twice at a girl who can make chicken sweaters. Mark my words. The marriage proposals will roll in.

My chickens love their winter sweaters.
